  • 0

If an international student graduates from an institution in the United States of America, how long will the stay in the country without violating any immigration rules?

  1. After graduating in the US as an international student, you can stay for a 60-day grace period if you’re F-1 visa.

Within this time, you are expected to either apply for Optional Practical Training (OPT), transfer to another program, or plan your return to your home.

If you apply for OPT, you can work in the US for up to 12 months in a job related to what you studied.

If you studied a STEM field (like science, technology, engineering, or math), you can extend this period by an extra 24 months.

If you want to stay in the US longer than your OPT period, you’ll go for other visa options.
